Succes dFBa in Florence

The three co-founders of the dutch Florence Biennale Artists, with the Award handed to Betty Jonker by Piero Celona, Vicepresident of the Biennale, for the Biennale's promotion in the world.

Dutch Florence Biennale Artists
Artists Frank Dammers (Zwolle-NL), Betty Jonker (Emmen-NL) and Sietze Groenwold (Scherpenzeel-NL/Särna-Sweden) initialized the creation of a group of twenty-seven very different artists. This group presents itself by the name of “dutch FLORENCE BIENNALE artists” (dFBa). Betty Jonker designed the logo.

In anticipation of sixth edition of the Florence Biennale of Contemporary Art (1st - 9th December, 2007) 27 Dutch artists participating to the Biennale did exhibit their art works from September 1st until October 6th 2007 in Galerie Spiegelbeeld, Cornelis Houtmanstraat 47b, Emmen, Holland;

September 1. 2007, did see the start of the first edition of the dFBA - dutch Florence Biennale artists - exhibition at 2 p.m. It was held at Galerie Spiegelbeeld, situated above Flier Interieur at the Meubelboulevard of Emmen, The Netherlands.

Several prominent guests will adorn this exhibition. The Ambassador of Italy, His Excellency S.E. Gaetano Cortese, did perform the opening at Emmen.
Also Mr. Vito Abba , Florence Biennale International Public Relations Director from Florence did attend at the opening.
Alderman Art and Culture of Emmen mrs M.H. Thalens-Kolker, was also present at the opening.

The 27 Dutch artists participating in next Biennale edition are united with the believe that as a group they can achieve a better attention as representatives of Dutch Contemporary art.

The sixth edition of the Florence Biennale will include, as honoured guests, the acclaimed artists Gilbert & George and from the White Cube Gallery London, Tim Marlow.

Gilbert & George will be awarded the Lorenzo il Magnifico prize on 4th December. Gilbert & George will meet the 800 artists participating at the Biennale and visitors to the Biennale, as part of the rich calendar of conferences, meetings, video-projections. A video-documentary produced by Gilbert & George will be shown during the Florence Biennale and Tim Marlow along with Gilbert & George will give a talk about their life and work. The Biennale International Jury that assigns recognitions and awards to the invited artists is composed of distinguished figures such Emmanuel von Lauenstein Massarani, artistic director of The Biennale; Stefano Francolini, Art Historian and Critic, Direttore settore restauro Opificio delle Pietre Dure, Florence; David Rubin, Curator of The Brown Foundation of Contemporary Art, San Antonio Museum of Art, Texas; Elza Ajzenberg, Professor of Art and Communication, Director of The Mac, Museum of Contemporary Art, Sao Paolo; R.B. Bhaskaran, Chairman of Lalit Kala Akademi, National Academy of Art, India; Rosa Tejada, Educator Metropolitan Museum New York; Gregorio Luke, director of Molaa, Latin American art museum Long Beach California; Dominique Edouard Bacheler, art history teacher and art critic, Paris; Pasquale Celona President of the Biennale and President of the International Jury, Piero Celona, Vicepresident of the Biennale. Political ambassador and Artistic Director of the Parliament Museum in San Paolo, Brazil Emmanuel von Lauenstein Massarani is the 2007 Biennale Director.
